On Sunday night suicide bombers attacked two different locations in Maiduguri and Sixteen persons were killed in the attack, by detonating the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) strapped on their bodies.

The State Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, Mr. Damien Chukwu, in an SMS sent to journalists on Monday morning, said that the attacks happened at the notorious Muna garage area where many had been killed in the past by the suicide bombers, and at Muna Dalti.

On the message received by the journalists said that: “On 22-10-2017. Date at about 2020hrs, a male suicide bomber detonated IED strapped on him at Muna Garage killing himself and thirteen persons with five injured.

“In another development at Muna Dalti two female suicide bombers detonated same killing themselves & injured thirteen.”

Chukwu revealed that the injured persons had been conveyed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for treatment, while the corpses of the dead had been equally evacuated from the scenes of the attack.

He said: “EOD/other police teams have been deployed to sanitise scenes & environs.

“In all, 16 persons were killed while 18 others were injured in the three explosions.”
