Quadri Olalekan, 17, was hacked to death by suspected cultists in the Oluguna area of Osogbo, Osun State.
According to sources in the area, a gang of six swooped on the victim on Monday and stabbed him several times.
The gang tracked Olalekan to the area and attacked him as he pleaded for help, according to a roadside trader who did not want to be identified.
“A group of six boys stabbed him. They are thought to be cultists. When he was attacked, we all fled,” he added.
Yemisi Opalola, a spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, said the command had identified those responsible for the killing.
“Quadri Olalekan was killed in the Oluguna area of Osogbo by one Afeez, also known as ‘Terror,’ and his gang, who were suspected to be Eiye Confraternity members,” she said. The perpetrators will be held accountable.”
