A group of the Osun All Progressives Congress, APC, loyal to Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has accused the group loyal to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of not being sincere in their desire for reconciliation.
According to a statement issued by the group’s Chairman, Mr Lowo Adebiyi, on Thursday, the rumoured reconciliation was a ruse and ploy by Governor Oyetola’s group, IleriOluwa, to deceive the public and annihilate Highest members.
Adebiyi stated that it is irreconcilable to attack people with one hand while mouthing reconciliation with the other, and to maintain that God despises lies and that all liars will perish.
“Topping it all off was the criminalization of seven of our leaders who were taken to court in anticipation of being sent to detention,” Adebiyi said.
“We believe that the Governor’s group, in collusion with the party, has something up their sleeves when they spewed out the reconciliation talk with nothing to show for it.
“We were not deceived to discover that they had two intentions: to show the world that TOP is obstinate and opposed to resolving the party’s discontent, thereby gaining cheap public sympathy, and to expose us to more virulent attacks by commissioned agents.
“Information has it that a popular cult group on four tertiary institutions’ campuses, as well as six notorious hoodlum gangs in Osogbo, Ede, Ile-Ife, and Ilesa, have been hired to launch attacks on individual TOP members, particularly the leadership, with the instruction to kill if necessary.
“It is important to note that the Governor’s group has no intention of reconciling, as evidenced by the Governor and the party Chairman’s body language.
The duo is so enraged by the prospect of the party being rebranded for a more purposeful achievement that they haven’t said anything about any of the stated attacks so far, and lies about reconciliation efforts are being spread.
“On behalf of all patriotic and peace-loving Highest members and leaders, we state unequivocally that we are not opposed to genuine reconciliation with an altruistic motive for the benefit of all members, but we will not succumb to the deception that is currently being peddled in order to demonize us.
“May I again appeal to the National Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee to look objectively at the Osun situation in order to have a goal-oriented party that serves a useful purpose. I would also like to emphasize the critical need for security agencies to be more proactive in their sanctimonious duty of protecting citizens’ lives.”
