Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has warned against insinuations that he and his predecessor, Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, are feuding. He is certain that the Minister will ensure his success.
He stated that he served Aregbesola for eight years, ensuring the success of his administration from 2010 to 2018, and that he will undoubtedly ensure the success of his (Oyetola’s) administration as governor.
A statement issued yesterday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ismail Omipidan, in response to misinformation published in a newspaper (not The Nation) titled “Osun Guber: I’m not counting on Aregbesola’s support — Oyetola,” explained that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola never made the statement attributed to him.
He stated that “the live radio program was listened to by millions of Nigerians,” and that “there was no reason Aregbesola would not support him after working for the success of his predecessor for eight years.”
“Well, I’m not so sure those people who have been saying that are speaking his mind. I believe he is my brother, and I believe he desires my success at all times because I worked very hard for his own success for eight years.
“If people are saying that (they will not support me), I’m not sure they’re telling the truth. He is still my brother. They are not expressing his thoughts. As I previously stated, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be willing to back me up if the people say they want me.”
